This year my working habits and fitness routine has changed to allow me to be healthier and happier. I’ve also started paying closer attention to my beauty and skincare treatments.
I take a lot of pride in my skin so when I started noticing pigmentation, some dry areas, redness and fine lines I wanted to find out what I can do to prevent and improve these early signs of aging.
A preventative measure I discovered was to invest in a quality facial treatment plan. It’s worth shopping around for the best facial treatments that will suit your needs as well as your budget.
I visited a couple of places before having a chat to Take off Skin and Body who have collaborated with me to bring you this post.
We had chatted about my skin concerns before they suggested a facial treatment that was affordable and realistic. A facial a month is something that I can quickly commit to because I find it practical and affordable.
Why it’s important to have facials
Face peels are a part of a facial treatment and are perfect for all skin types. Peels eat away at the dead layer of skin, breaking down unwanted wastes such as toxins and cellular debris. Peels have almost no side effects and are the most recommended.
After an initial analysis of my skin Take off Skin and Body suggested the next three facials.
1) Week 1 – The Pomegranate Enzyme peel – I was treated with a gentle enzyme pomegranate peel for my first facial treatment. This peel is best for the first time peel. It’s ideal for people who have sensitive skin including Rosacea.
2) Week 2 – The Pumpkin Enzyme and Fruit Acid Peel. This peel was slightly stronger than the Pomegranate Enzyme Peel and is suitable for sun damaged, aging and congested skin.
3) Week 3 – The Bio White Peptide Peel. I loved this peel because I achieved better results than the previous two peels. This peel is ideal for skins that have been previously peeled. Perfect for pigmentation and the sun damaged skin – it’s a high vitamin, anti-inflammatory peel. You will feel this on your face as it’s hot and I needed to have my face fanned. But don’t worry it’s warm because it works! My face was not red or irritated after I had this peel.
After these first facials, I’ve already booked for another facial treatment as I’m happy with my results.
Steps used during the facial peels above include:
Step 1: Double cleanse using a Gentle Antioxidant cleanser.
Step 2: Exfoliating cleanser to remove surface dead skin cells.
Step 3: Oxygen booster treatment. This targets acne, kills bacteria and heals and soothes the skin (Note: this in not included in the $129 price as stated above and will cost you an additional $35)
Step 4: Skin was prepped for the peel with a barrier cream applied to the lips and side of the mouth, the side of the eyes and the tip of the nose.
Step 5: The peel (either the Pomegranate, the Pumpkin or the Bio White) was applied and stayed on the skin for 5-10 minutes.
Step 6: Face was then cleaned to neutralise peel with cool pads.
Step 7: A serum was applied straight after this. The serum offers the instant skin recovery after peeling.
Step 8: The most amazing, hydrating and cooling mask was applied. The Alginate Mask cooled and refreshed my skin. It has an anti-inflammatory action and improves blood circulation. Once hardened the mask simply peels off.
While the mask hardened, I was treated to a lovely scalp massage.
I walked out with a soft, cleansed and very hydrated face that was finished with eye cream, face serum and a moisturiser/SPF30+.
I notice some changes, most importantly I noticed how fresh, smooth and soft my face was. It was nice to use makeup, as I didn’t have any uneven dry patches. You have to way up the costs to enjoy the benefits of looking fresh and having more radiant skin – for me, I think it’s worth having 1-2 facials per month.
To see the best results, it is also important to note that any facial peels should be accompanied with a quality skin care home regime (nothing cheap and nasty that contains fillers or inactive ingredients)
