Now that baby number two is almost seven months old it’s giving me the opportunity to reflect back on some of the things I experienced while pregnant and have a bit of a laugh.
I hope to see some of your funny stories in the comment box below so other parents can have a read about some of the things experienced when carrying these precious little beings with us for nine months.
1.You can forget about those expensive filers.
My lips and cheeks never looked so damn sexy! It must have been all of that extra blood and whatever other fluids my body was retaining at the time. My hubby couldn’t stop commenting on them 🙂
2.I think it’s important to be as fit and healthy as possible before putting the body through something traumatic but natural like giving birth. While pregnant, I had the help and support from a personal trainer, a nutritionist and a doctor. So, I was very lucky to have been fit, healthy and safe leading up to the two births. I admit that I loved the glances I got from others as I was safely able to squat more weight than most still while having massive bosoms and a big belly. It was very satisfying.
3.It was cankles galore.
My gosh, my feet must have gone up three sizes! I already have wide feet, so to have them increase even more in size was a challenge. I was pregnant in the warmer months, which meant the only shoe I could wear was my trusted old pair of Birkenstocks. I felt like I was stepping on a bed of roses every time I woke up and put them on my elephant size tree trunks. So regardless of how big my feet and ankles got, I embraced them because it’s probably the only time I would ever wear my Birkenstocks in public.
4.The food cravings were insane.
I recall ordering soft drinks from McDonald’s, via Uber, without the actual soft drink in the cup, so that I could have the ice cubes. Maccas ice is the best! I don’t know if it’s the size, shape or texture of the ice cubes. But I was smashing 2-6 glasses of ice cubes with lime, each day – it was a costly habit.
5. From 23 weeks onwards, I had to grab onto my partner when I was sleeping. I didn’t have the strength to roll over, so every night, I woke him up several times when I grabbed his body to help me roll onto my other side to sleep. Poor hubby, he probably wanted to kick me out of the bed after waking him up so many times every single night for weeks!
I’d love to know some of the unusual things you went through when you were pregnant 🙂
