I couldn’t have chosen a better night to go along and enjoy some spectacular burlesque. The evening was warm, and I was excited to be on a boat in the water experiencing what it’s like seeing Docklands and the city from a different angle. The cityscape is breathtaking at night and was even more enjoyable when you combine it with sensual and classy burlesque dancers each performing their unique show on a show boat with delicious canapés and finger food served non-stop throughout the night.
A little bit about Lady Cutler
Launched in 2011, Lady Cutler’s Showboat Burlesque Show is the longest running burlesque show in Melbourne.
I don’t think people realise just how talented the burlesque dancers were so I’m highlighting my two favourite performers from the night below:
Liz Skitch
After spending some time mingling amongst ourselves on the boat, we headed upstairs for the 45-minute show. A very energetic and lively master of ceremonies bounced her way onto the small stage. Let me tell you, this lady is a pocket rocket and was the perfect character to start the show. Liz is not only a natural born comedian, but she is also an actor, writer and director and over the last 15 years, but she has also been heavily involved in her very own theatre company which tours nationally and internationally.
Zelia Rose
One of my favourite performers on the night, her ambiance was very captivating and sensual. She channels a very sexy 1930s era. In 2014, she won the title of Miss Burlesque Victoria and thrilled the country by taking out the coveted title of Miss Burlesque Australia. She has been named one of Australia’s Top 10 Burlesque Artists in 21st Century Magazine.
