Apologies for the late delay in writing about my Derby Day venture! I have been flat out with last minute travel shopping and organising for my 9 day cruise… but enough about that… for now!
DERBY DAY is my absolute favourite day of the Spring Racing Carnival. It’s a lot more glamorous and really is the party day of the carnival. I don’t really care about the Horses. I’m there for the fashion!
We were blessed with great weather and this year I broke the rules and wore sequins! I follow a lot of blogs and I always see under the ”DONT section” that sequins are a huge no no. We can all throw on a dress and a hat but I think its about stepping out of the comfort zones and taking a risk with fashion.
THE LOOK THAT WAS:
- My sequin jumpsuit was by ASOS petites
- Jewels and bag from my Mummys closet
- My amazing fascinator was inspired by Victoria Beckham’s piece she wore to the royal wedding, the amazing Zorza Goodman made this for me! (she also came second in the Flemington design awards this year)
- Make up by Napoleon at Highpoint
The day was spent drinking champagne and eating along with socialising with friends. Seeing celebrities from a far….Maybe one day I will be in a Marquee! Wishful thinking.
My highlight was getting a lot of attention from photographers as well as being filmed by Chanel 7 (awkward) and Fashion Fab TV, an up and coming Youtube channel where you can check out my not so stable twirl.
I even got the okay from Blogger idol Nadia Coppolino saying these are good sequins which made my day (this can be seen on my Instagram page) thank you Nadia!
Such a fun day! Bring on next year!!
