I doubt I’m the only one who feels this, but shopping in Melbourne is overwhelming. As a result I’ve developed a phobia for shopping, especially when it comes to shopping for clothes and turned to a fashion stylist for help.
When shopping for clothes I feel confused with all of the options available. How am I suppose to know which style would suit me best? I’ve lost touch with my style and need help as I can’t expect to rely on the people working in the stores to tell me what cut, colour, fabric or style of clothing would suit me best.
So what does one do when they feel like this? Do you talk to your friends? Do you continue reading your fashion blogs to get inspired? Or do you make time to see a personal stylist?
I chose to see a stylist because I needed to re learn what I’d forgotten about fashion. I like the idea of paying for the advice of someone who is obviously stylish themselves. Someone who can teach me the basics again be able to provide me with up to date tips on what I should wear if I want to highlight my features.
Girls and guys I want you to meet the lovely Miss Chelsea Brice – Your Personal Fashion Stylist in Melbourne. I love the fact that I can call her my personal style consultant. From the first moment I met her I felt her energy and I knew this chick would leave me feeling amazing and looking smoking hot. She doesn’t believe it’s about dressing for your body shape or sticking to a colour chart. She believes in making sure you’re dressed in ways that highlight your features and assets.

During your first consultation with Chelsea you will answer a lot of questions. She needs to know your current style, what types of clothes you want to wear, trends that inspire you and most importantly what are your current fashion issues.
Below are some questions I had to answer:
- Exactly what my expectations were
- Three things that I wanted to get out of my first styling session
- What are my current problems and issues when shopping for clothes
- What’s my lifestyle like
After an in depth discussion about my style we went through a full body scan. I put on a tight knitted Karen Millen dress and stood in front of the mirror. Chelsea asked me “What do notice when you see yourself in the mirror”.
I realised whilst looking at myself in the mirror that I wasn’t looking at my face, hair, shoulders or breasts, I was instead focusing my attention to the widest part of my body, my hips and bottom.
This simple exercise demonstrated that I buy clothes and dress for this part of my body only when I should be dressing for all parts of my body. We determined the features I need to highlight include: my curvaceous bottom, my small waist, my toned shoulders, my great skin and my light coloured eyes.
Are you making the same mistake? Maybe you should do this exercise and see which part of the body you naturally focus your attention on first.
I enjoyed meeting with Chelsea during my first consultation and have arranged to go on a shopping tour with her. I won’t go into too much detail in this post, but promise to update you after I finish with the tour.
