To my lovely readers, this is a sponsored post. I was approached by Body Catalyst to experience a fat freezing treatment. I agreed to write a post about my experience only if it worked and it did. You can read what it was like below. Enjoy 🙂
It’s great being able to get back to a healthier lifestyle after having my baby boy. So, when Body Catalyst asked me if I would be interested in a fat freezing treatment, I was keen to give it a go.
When I think of fat freezing, I think of a large machine magically zapping away those horrid wobbly fat cells.
Body Catalyst is in the business of treating stubborn pockets of fat permanently. I felt like I was in good hands and was happy to hand over my post-pregnancy lower stomach fat cells for them to treat.
How Does Fat Freezing Work?
Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical and non-invasive alternative to liposuction and has the benefits of getting results with absolutely no downtime.
Cryolipolysis (or fat freezing) freezes the fat cells to a chilly -9c. When the fat cells drop to this temperature, they are killed and pass through the liver leaving the body for good. Patients can lose between 20% to 30% of fat cells in the targeted area permanently just after one treatment.
I had two suction mechanisms attached to my lower stomach during my 60-minute treatment. The suction mechanisms worked as vacuums, sucking up my fat cells and freezing them. After they were frozen, my lower abdomen was very cold and required a subtle massage to help break down the frozen fat. Once broken down, the fat cells could pass through my lymphatic system.
The Risks
I’m always anxious to find out what are the risks when undergoing a new treatment. Body Catalyst explained in explicit detail the risks of fat freezing. It was reassuring to hear that there was no risk of frostbite to the skin (even though the fat underneath would be frozen to -9c). Some of the other risks explained included swelling and bruising.
I did experience minor numbness around my lower stomach which lasted about two weeks. It was also hard to sleep on my sides because of the pain but after one tablet of Panadol, I was able to sleep with no problems.
I didn’t experience any bruising, but my stomach became very swollen the day after the treatment. It was so swollen that I felt self-conscious because I looked like I was pregnant again. I had to wear baggy pants for a couple of days because it was too uncomfortable to wear anything firm around my stomach. Body Catalyst did suggest wearing compression clothing as it does help to support the swelling.
My Results
After 12 weeks, I went back to have my measurements, and I’m happy to report that I lost 4cm from my lower stomach! I’m thrilled with the results and honestly feel that this is an excellent option for those who are having problems eliminating stubborn pockets of fat. I will be going back in two months’ time, explore another treatment, potentially for the top half of my stomach which has also suffered since giving birth.
The Cost of Fat Freezing
This treatment is a serious investment and prices start at $599 per suction applicator. I wouldn’t suggest getting this unless you have tried everything else to reduce your area of concern. But the guys at Body Catalyst are happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns. So please feel free to content them and ask for Sandra. Her mobile is 0401 288 137, or you can send her an email at melbournecbd@bodycatalyst.com.au (don’t forget to tell her that Emilia Rossi sent you as Body Catalyst are offering a special 50% off your first treatment).
