Whilst here in London being involved in the fashion scene, I was lucky enough to see Liz Black’s SS14 collection presentation during London Fashion week in September.
Titled ‘Perceive / Deceive’ tt is her sixth ready-to-wear collection inspired by Venuzelan kinetic and optical artist Jesus Rafael Soto, where you are invited to form your own personal perception of colour line and touch.
Presented through a conceptual installation in Freemasons Hall, viewers were encouraged to explore the works of art. The abstract showpieces were the standouts of the evening, showcasing bright cobalt leathers, strong yellows and classic black in minimal and structural forms.
A sense of handcraftsmanship was seen in all designs through the complex strong lines on the statement pieces, hand-painted leathers and optical prints perfect for the Liz Black woman – a elegant and daring dresser.
