Having a small holiday every now and then is ever so good for the soul and recently my partner and I stayed at Crown Metropol hotel in Melbourne. Now even though we only live in the suburbs of Melbourne both of us had never actually stayed in our own city, and I must say it was the loveliest experience.
We took the train in to the city on the morning along with our suitcases, mine extremely over stocked for a four-day stay.
Once checked into the hotel we ventured up to the fifteenth floor, and entered our wonderful room, the view was amazing, massive king bed, and quite modern interior.
We spent our day shopping at Melbourne central and then journeyed to South Wharf for some outlet shopping, I got a lot of great buys my favourite find of the day was a black velvet skater skirt from dotti. On our first night we decided to have room service and watch a movie, the food from Mr. Hive Kitchen and Bar was absolutely delicious I had a wonderful chicken caesar salad and we shared a chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream. I definitely recommend getting room service at Metropol.
While we were staying in the city I had to see the Hollywood Costumes exhibition at ACMI, the exhibition was great, to be able to see such detailed costumes worn by such famous actors and actresses such as the wedding dress in Moulin Rouge which was worn by Nicole Kidman, the batman suit worn by the gorgeous Christian Bale and the famous over the vent dress worn by Marilyn Monroe, to see these up close was so exciting definitely a highlight for anyone who loves fashion, or movies.
I also had the chance to tantalise my taste buds at Guillaume, the premium French restaurant in the Crown complex. This place is definitely worth the money, it’s decorated with beautiful ceiling lamps, which cast an intimate light across the room, the waiters were very attentive and the food, I just died and went to culinary heaven it’s a great place for a special romantic dinner.
In this busy fast paced society it is always good to take out some much needed down time and just relax, in my case a few days filled with finding fashionable bargains, swimming in the rooftop pool, cute kisses from my love and delicious tasty food.
