I enjoy sharing stories about my life experiences on my blog, via my social media channels and on my newsletter. One story that I shared recently was the passion I have for property investment.
There was an opportunity to talk about what I thought of renting while investing with the Daily Telegraph, News.com.au and various real estate sites as well as with iSelect.
This blog post is not necessarily about the interview but more about the cool things that happened after the story was shared in one particular Facebook group called LMBDW (Like Minded Bitches Drink Wine).
LMBDW is a Facebook group of over 40,000 highly motivated, confident and honest women who support each other by sharing candid stories, advice and updates about their professional and business life. Jane Lu (the Founder of Showpo) and her savvy business friends started the group.
After sharing the interview in LMBDW it received over 650 likes and 55 comments – it was overwhelming. But it’s not these vanity metrics that blew me away; it was the stuff afterwards that happened that was really interesting. There was a significant increase in website traffic (that lasted all week) to both my blog and Capriess; there was an increase in likes to my social media profiles as well as an uplift in the number of people who subscribed to my newsletter. I received so many personal email messages including two new business opportunities, a brand collaboration opportunity with my blog, a podcast and another interview. I also booked some lovely coffee catch-ups with other like-minded women in the LMBDW group to chat about the similarities we have.
The reason why I think the post did incredibly well in LMBDW was that it spoke to the minds and hearts of other women – there was also a beautiful photo which of course visually helped the post to stand out. But it was the personal, very honest and heart-warming comment used to introduce the interview that seemed to inspire other women and illustrate it’s possible to do more than one thing in life to make a living.
It was a great 24-hours, and I loved being able to personally reply to almost everything single comment I received in the thread.
Was such a great read xx
