Melbourne is known for its shopping culture and in this blog post I will highlight some of the places I love most when it comes to shopping in Melbourne. The picture above is of a lane way near Flinders Street Station. As soon as you walk down one of those laneways you can feel that it is full of culture. This is where the heart of Melbourne is. You can find lots of little boutiques selling unique clothing and accessories, and I really enjoyed shopping here.
MELBOURNE CENTRAL
A few weeks ago I went to Melbourne Central shopping centre with my girlfriends and we had a great time shopping the whole day until our feet were incredibly sore. It is a five level complex, with so many awesome shops including Sportsgirl, Country Road, Bardot, Glue, Seafolly and Witchery just to name a few. I thought I’d share some awesome items I bought for a bargain:
H&M
Most of you from Melbourne will know that H&M just opened at the GPO (maybe you’ve seen Flinders Street Station plastered with Miranda Kerr posters). H&M is a clothing store founded in Stockholm, and I am proud to say that the first in Australia was opened in Melbourne! I went there a few weeks ago, and it is still very busy. Most of the stuff is great quality and pretty cheap too.
I got this gorgeous jumper in preparation for the coming winter for $12.95:
EMPORIUM
Melbournians will also know that an Emporium opened up in an old arcade just a few weeks after H&M. It is a beautiful building, and there are so many lovely stores there! The highlights include: Adidas, Bardot Junior, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Kookai, L’Occitane En Provence, Lacoste, Lonsdale, Pandora, Sass & Bide, Swarovski, Swatch, and Witchery, as well as some renowned restaurant chains such as Bing Boy.
But the most important shop in Emporium in my opinion would have to be Uniqlo. Everyone’s been talking about Uniqlo; in case you don’t know, it’s a very successful simple clothing store originating in Japan. The Emporium Store is the first non-pop-up store in Australia, and is increasing in popularity by the day because of its unique outlook on simple fashion for all genders and ages. Right now they are selling super-warm winter wear for unbelievable prices, so go and check it out!
Lots of love,
Michelle xx
