My Thermomix has changed the way I approach cooking. It’s the most brilliant kitchen appliance I’ve used and I’ll explain why I like it in this blog post.
I first saw the benefits of the Thermomix after tasting the fresh and delicious dishes my brother made – who also hates anything to do with the kitchen. In his first week of owning a Thermomix, he made a curry, a fresh vegetable cold salad, and a soft chocolate pudding.
It’s wonderful how this machine cuts my cleaning and cooking time by more than half. It has also inspired me to cook new dishes such as green and red curries, goulashes, salads, sauces, stews, and cakes.
An appliance like this that does everything including it weighs, chops, slices, steams, boils, cooks, blends and kneads – For me it’s worth every cent!
Reasons why I love about my Thermomix.
1.It holds its value
Before purchasing my Thermomix, I researched to see if I could buy it second hand and was impressed to see the listed prices were very close to the RRP. Even the previous model was selling at a high price. This eliminated the risk of purchasing a Thermomix because I knew if I didn’t like it I could sell it straight away for probably $200-$300 less than what I paid for it.
2. It’s sturdy and very well designed
Using the fastest possible chopping and blending settings the machine is relatively quiet – a lot more quiet than any blender I’ve owned. I have no fear about using the highest speed and feel safe knowing it’s balanced perfectly on my bench top – it’s not going anywhere!
I also like the design, it’s minimalist, clean and the look will not outdate fast.
3.It’s very easy to clean
I think the worse part of cooking is the cleanup. Having to get my hands wet and wash many separate things when cutting and prepping food is annoying. After chopping, slicing, mashing or mixing meat, flour, cream etc, my Thermomix is easy to clean. Simply put it back on its base and select the Turbo function. It will spin all the crap stuck on the blade against the wall of the bowl, which can easily be scraped off before filling it with water, putting it back on the base and spinning in for a final clean.
Some other things I like about my Thermomix include:
- An excellent digital screen that is very responsive – The screen is very intuitive, there is no lag or delay and it feels like a quality touchscreen.
- Fantastic support – The Thermomix community is wonderful. I feel that this is why it’s so popular. The number of recipes, forums, groups etc online is astonishing and is perfect for those who need extra guidance and recipe ideas. When you buy a Thermomix it’s nice to know you are not on your own.
- Dummies can use it – I know someone who has never ever cooked in their life (never) and after buying their Thermomix they’re now cooking wholesome dishes every week.
What I don’t like about the Thermomix
- I feel it’s marketed heavily on families and mums. I actually find some of their marketing material a bit outdated. What about the business-minded young couples who want to use their time for something better? What about those young professionals who have limited space and want to learn how to make quality food? I wish they could adjust their marketing and target young professionals because they also have high disposable incomes and need to also free up more of their time (not just families and mums).
- You have to buy from a consultant. I’m not a fan of pyramid selling (i.e Tupperware) I feel it controls the price of the items and as a consumer, I like to have options where I can buy my items from.
