Every day for the past two months I have not been able to stop wearing these babies on my feet! They are unbelievably comfortable; it’s like walking on clouds
Isabel Marant, one of my favourite French designers created these sneakers, the best feature is the hidden wedge which gives me some assistance in the height department. The Marant aesthetic can be described as bohemian chic with attitude, which makes her designs so easy to wear.
Believe it or not, the inspiration behind these shoes derived from Isabel Marant at a very young age.
“It’s something I did since I was a teenager. I would cut up cork and put pieces of cork into my sneakers because I wanted to look taller, and I always thought about this, what I was doing when I was young, and I thought I should really achieve something around this idea. Sneakers are so comfortable but at the same time it’s not very elegant. To have a little heel in it makes a difference, it gives you legs-I mean, I know women, I am a woman, so I know what we are searching for!” – Isabel marant told Leah Chernikoff
Fast forward to today and the style has become a fashion phenomenon. The style is not everyone’s cup of tea, in fact I have been getting some weird looks here and there but if you want to add height and not look over-dressed you will truly appreciate and understand the beauty of these shoes.
While the shoes come with a price tag it is definitely worth every penny considering I’ve worn them non stop and they still feel good as new. As spring approaches I will be putting them back in the box very soon but come next autumn they will be ready for another walk in the park.
