Melbourne is always full of fun events to enjoy and spectacular shows to see. I’ve put together a list of four things happening this Autumn and Winter to make it easier to decide what to enjoy in Melbourne.
1.Watch a funny play
I received two tickets to watch The Play That Goes Wrong (a London comedy hit that is currently touring Australia). The play is set as a 1920’s murder mystery and while the cast act, various types of weird, wacky, and utterly hilarious accidents take place on the set, right before your eyes.
For example, props break up, walls fall, people seem to get injured, or worse, they go missing during the performance, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! It’s a seriously funny play, and I enjoyed being able to laugh myself silly.
If you’re looking for unpredictable, unusual live comedy to watch this show is for you.
Venue: Comedy Theatre
Dates: The Play That Goes Wrong will perform in Melbourne up to the 26th of March
Tickets: From $69
2.Watch a speculator ballet performance
I bought tickets to see The Sleeping Beauty by the Australian Ballet at the State Theatre, after hearing how great and spectacular this production is, I have to experience it. This amazing production will showcase incredibly detailed sparkling sets and costumes (including bejeweled tutus) from the luxurious Imperial Court and the French Louis XIV period. It will also feature magical elves, nymphs, and fairies as well as other mythical characters.
If you’re after a very special experience, why not treat yourself and join 65,000 other people who have already seen this great production by The Australian Ballet.
Venue: State Theatre at the Arts Centre Melbourne
Dates: From Friday 16th June to Tuesday 27th June in Melbourne, but check the site for dates in other capital cities.
Tickets: From $43
3.Catch up with friends for high tea
Do you need the perfect excuse to catch up with your best friends? Then how does a lovely High Tea Party at The Palladium at Crown Melbourne sound?
I was invited to take two girlfriends to enjoy a decadent high tea. This High Tea Party will also offer mini beauty treatments, tastings, styling, and fashion as well as an exclusive boutique market area where guests can enjoy browsing and shopping beautiful, fashionable items such as Royal Albert Teaware, fine teas and impressive fashion for all ages as well as jewellery and candles.
The High Tea Party will also celebrate the strength and courage of some very extraordinary women, who are currently undergoing or have undergone treatment for breast cancer. These gorgeous ladies will model some key looks for a catwalk (thanks to Pink Hope and Living Silk who’ll be coordinating the parade).
I’m looking forward to treating my two friends to a fun day out where we can catch up as well pamper ourselves. The High Tea Party will be organised across six capital cities this year.
Dates: 15th and 16th of July in Melbourne
Tickets: Are normally $120 but the lovely team at The High Party are giving my readers a special offer. So if you’re interested in attending, feel free to use this code “ROSSI” and you’ll receive your ticket for only $75 🙂
4.Watch a fashion show
The Melbourne Fashion Festival, held at the Royal Exhibition Building, will bring together a collection of the most cut-edge, established and emerging, designers in Australia.
The lovely team behind Farfetch sent two invitations for me to attend the event. The festival will feature all kinds of looks including luxe to low-key, high-glamour to grungy, so I’m hoping the festival will include styles to suit even the fussiest fashionista!
I’m also excited to see some of the handpicked graduates who get to debut their designs for the first time. There is nothing more exciting than witnessing these super talented newbies showcase their first collection.
Dates: The Festival will run from the 1st to the 19th of March
Tickets: From $59
